- make 8.5″ radius quarter-circle template to pattern a 17″ diameter semi-circle.
2. Cut 2 fabrics 9″ X 18″
3.Fold each fabric in half RS to RS with fold to right or left. Press 9″ X 9″ rectangle.
4. Place template onto 9″ X 9″, with 90 degree side along fold. Rotary cut or scissor cut rectangle along arc of quarter-circle. Unfold 17″ diameter semi-circle. Repeat for 2nd fabric.
5. Cut 4 rectangles for trunk 2 1/2“ x 2“, 2 of each material, with 2 inches being the vertical part of the trunk.
6. Place 2 small, similar rectangles, minding pattern orientation RS, to RS. 1/4″ SA, 3 sides, short side, long, short. Clip sewn corners, turn RSs out, poke out corners, press.
