My sewing journey began in 2017, as I wanted to impress a woman by mastering skills she had practiced for years.
The first project was a pillow cover sewn with cotton fabric stitched by hand with a back stitch. The pillow cover stills survives, but, sadly, the impression I generated was not favorable. The pillow and cover were gift and the gift returned.
In 2020, only several months after migrating from Ohio to the UpState of South Carolina, I had the fortune of encountering 3 Mormon Missionaries. Over the next 2+ years, I sewed for the Sisters. Each of the 13 Sisters received a shopping tote, and several were kind enough to permit me to sew a garment for them: bodice, bodice w/ peplum, skirt w/ waistband and buttons closure, pinafore designed by Don, maxi dress, maxi dress w/ 3 sections of gathered fabric, and a pinafore-ish dress (Seamwork Hazel pattern) which was shipped to BYU Rexburg sans hem. M finished the hem and wore the dress.
After the sisters, I have sewn from boat cover repair to bras.
I am particularly proud of booties w/ USMC logo, reversible bonnets, one of a kind table set of backed napkins, quilted, reversible placemats, coasters, and bowl cozies, and a one of a kind baby quilt. The baby quilt was sewn from 8″ blocks of Tula Pink’s Curiousier and Curiousier Collection, utilizing the Red Queen and Alice fabrics and a quilt label in Spanish.
